Former Busted singer Charlie Simpson, now fronting Fightstar, is being sent to Siberia. No, not to a gulag – although some might think that a just punishment for his multiple crimes against music – but for a world record attempt sponsored by Jägermeister. Simpson plans to play the coldest gig of all time in a town where temperatures are likely to be a slightly nippy -40˚C. The herby tipple’s medicinal qualities (it was originally sold as a cough remedy) may come in useful, but Simpson will be more worried about his fingers – being unable to wear gloves and play guitar at the same time means he runs a small risk of losing them.
