Music Supervision Highlights: 2014

Music Supervision Highlights: 2014

It’s been a big year for Record-Play’s music supervision team across the board, so we won’t bang on about all the projects we’ve worked on. Instead, here’s a selection of the year’s highlights, featuring adidas, Reebok and Atomic…

First up, we helped Reebok celebrate the return of their classic Pump shoe. For these two productions we had to find classic-sounding tracks, the first of which was Mr Kojak’s ‘Mono Rail’, while the second was a bona fide classic in itself – Bomb The Bass’ ‘Beat Dis’ (released in 1987, while the Pump was launched in 1985).

Atomic Ski also asked us to help them soundtrack another stellar year for the skiing brand, and we delivered an exclusive edit of a track by rising Greek producer Kubed. Watch their Brand Video 2014 over HERE.

Utilising our MusicMap service, we also soundtracked the inaugural Berlin Alternative Fashion Week. A small selection of tunes used during the runway shows can be heard on this SoundCloud playlist.

adidas
Continuing our work as adidas’ retained music agency, we worked with them across this year’s activities, including the mammoth World Cup campaign. Check out our full list of work from the World Cup, including clearances by The Kinks and Kanye West .

To launch the brand’s global campaign, and their official World Cup cleat, the Samba, we brought together Portuguese collective Buraka Som Sistema and Brazilian MC Karol Conka to compose an original track, ’BOTA’, which is now one of Buraka’s Top 5 most Popular tracks on Spotify…

Premieres
For the ‘Leo Messi returns to Barcelona’ clip, we bagged an unreleased tune from the much-anticipated second album by Rustie, ‘Green Language’ (released on Warp), entitled ‘Velcro’. We also premièred What So Not’s and RL Grime’s ‘Tell Me’ on the Pure Boost running shoe launch.

Combined, both clips have been seen over 2.5 million times.

Additional Press
Along with the Rustie première being talked about in the mainstream music press, the use of alt-rap group Death Grips’ ‘You Might Think He Loves You For You Money But I Know What He Really Loves You For And It’s Your Brand New Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat’ also gained a lot of attention on the likes of Pitchfork and Dazed Digital.
