At Record-Play we’d been busy on World Cup action long before the new year. As their Music Supervision team, we were already digging deep for tunes for World Cup Official Partner adidas, whose projects ranged from the Kanye West soundtracked ‘The Dream’ clip to their end of cup animated montage, ‘The Feeling‘, with music from rising UK star Jareth.
Along with these the Brazuca Around The World series was developed to showcase the official ball’s journey from inception to the big games themselves, stopping off at Germany, Spain, USA, Japan, Mexico and Brazil on its way.
Additionally, we had the launch of the Brazuca Ball itself, which managed to bag the Kinks’ classic ‘All Day And All Of The Night’ for, and the launch of the Samba boot collection. For this clip we paired Buraka Som Sistema up with Karol Conka to produce an original track, entitled ‘BOTA’.
The World Cup’s Official Sports Drink Powerade also asked for our assistance for a series of uplifting stories straight from the streets of Brazil. Entitled ‘Powering Through’, the series followed individuals overcoming difficulties using the power of sport,with music coming from The Last Skeptik, Oh No, Dan Palmer and more.
